Aaron Knight is seeking an artists assistant. The goal of the artist’s assistant is to allow the artist to maximize time spent making art. This means you will be performing recruiting and administrative tasks and other aspects of running an art studio that do not require direct involvement from the artist. Successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to execute the entire sequence of duties to facilitate photo shoots.
Duties include:
- Model recruitment and outreach
- Coordinating with on-camera talent
- Studio and set preparation
- Recharging equipment
- Administrative responsibilities
Job Salary range: $21.50-$23.50/hour
The artist’s assistant’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Scout and recruit new models. Coordinate with recruited talent by making sure they are on time and ready for success going into photo shoots. Through model recruitment and outreach, represent the artist’s values while scouting for new talent who are an excellent fit for projects. Studio and set preparation includes placement and storing of lights, stands, and related equipment, as well as assisting in the construction of sets and props.
Administrative responsibilities can include dealer listings, advertisements for both model recruitment and sales, and other activities consistent with the assistant’s areas of skill.
Skills for success:
- Interpersonal skills. Helpful experience includes customer service, resident assistant, peer counselor, student mentor.
- Resilience. Helpful experience includes brand ambassador, cold-call selling, peer-to-peer fundraising, and political canvassing.
- Remaining unflappable regardless of situation.
Previous experience with a modeling agency or as a talent scout are a huge plus. Financial bonuses or commission arrangements may be available to the right candidate.
